Abstract:

Project Management is an emerging profession that is rapidly expanding in Malaysia. The globalisation of economic activities has enormously accelerated the pace of innovation, extensive business transformation and aggressive technology development throughout the world. These has led to further challenges in project management which are already reaching new levels of complexity.

The presentation explores challenges faced by project managers in each Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and at various levels of mixed projects. Some key points will be suggested which may be taken as guidelines in order to overcome these challenges.

Brief biography:

Mohamed Shah is an experienced CIO specialising in Business Alignment and IT Transformation to support strategic business initiatives. He is responsible and involved in UMW local and overseas IT business needs and implementation. He has experienced in managing RM300 million worth of project value.

He has exposure in Telecommunication, Semiconductor, Manufacturing, Heavy Equipment, Automotive, Oil & Gas business verticals cutting across Singapore, Indonesia, India, China, Hong Kong, Australia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea and Oman. Some of his notable implementation achievement is in ERP Implementation (SAP / BaaN / PRONTO / ACCPAC / KINGDEE ), Business Intelligence & Data Analytic, Financial Consolidation, IT Blueprint, Strategy & Roadmap.

He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1988 with BSc. in Industrial Engineering (IE) and later obtained his IE Practitioner from London in 1989. He pursued his dream to complete MSc in Project Management in 2014 with local university. He is also a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified as well as PRINCE2 Practitioner. Today, he is an auditor council member in Project Management Institute (PMI) Malaysia.

Currently, Mohamed Shah is working with UMW Technology Sdn Bhd as Executive Vice President, Portfolio Management.
