We are entering the Era of IR 5.0, where artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, and human–machine collaboration are redefining how economies and businesses operate. Unlike previous industrial revolutions that focused solely on automation and productivity, IR 5.0 emphasizes human-centric innovation, sustainability, inclusivity, and resilience by integrating technology with environmental and social responsibility.
From fintech and ESG reporting to data-driven policymaking, green marketing, and supply chain optimization, AI applications are advancing the global shift toward sustainable economic growth. New opportunities are also emerging in rural development, energy transition, and digital inclusion, where AI can bridge development gaps, promote social equity, and drive environmental stewardship.
At the same time, the rapid rise of AI introduces an emerging energy and climate dilemma. AI models and data centers demand enormous and stable energy resources, raising questions about carbon intensity, renewable integration, and alignment with global climate commitments. This dual challenge underscores the need to balance AI-driven innovation with the ongoing energy transition and the broader climate sustainability agenda. Yet, when effectively harnessed, AI can also become a powerful enabler of climate solutions by optimizing energy systems, improving efficiency, forecasting demand, and supporting low-carbon pathways toward net-zero futures.
FEBS 2026 provides a multidisciplinary platform for academics, practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders to exchange ideas, present research, and discuss how AI within IR 5.0 can drive sustainable, inclusive, and competitive economies. The conference welcomes diverse perspectives across finance, economics, management, marketing, accounting, rural development, and energy economics, emphasizing how human creativity and technological intelligence can jointly shape a more adaptive and responsible global future.
