A decade with IBBC, 10th International Borneo Business Conference. #IBBC2022
Started in 2004, the International Borneo Business Conference (IBBC) has emerged as a platform for academicians, researchers, practitioners, policy makers to interact and exchange viewpoints and research findings on contemporary business and economics issues related to the Borneo region and the global world. IBBC is a biennial conference and that were successfully held in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2021.

Despite the global pandemic, the 10th IBBC will still be conducted and celebrated under the new norm with the theme of "Diversification of Economy and Business Sustainability: Opportunities and Challenges". The theme is in line with the aspiration of Malaysian government in ensuring the diversity of sources of Malaysian economic growth as well as the Sarawak state government's committed efforts in realizing the economic transformation towards the digital economy and business sustainability.

Faculty of Economics and Business, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) will be taking the honor of organizing the first hybrid IBBC conference from 19 to 21st September 2022 here in Kuching, Sarawak. With help from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis, Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN) and American University of Phnom Penh IBBC2022 is in hope of continuing the tradition of becoming the platform of engagement and analytical discussion on issues that have profound impact on global trade, finance and the economy as a whole.

Objectives

The objectives of the conference are as follows:

  1. Discuss the issues, prospects, and challenges of Borneo’s economy and business in particular and globally in general.
  2. Creating a sharing of latest ideas and information on current issues related to the global economy that are analyzed critically based on empirical studies.
  3. Establish scientific relationships and research networks among lecturers, students, government and private sector officials from within and outside the country.

"Diversification of Economy and Business Sustainability:

Opportunities and Challenges"

The theme of this conference is "Diversification of Economy and Business Sustainability: Opportunities and Challenges". In line with the support for the Malaysian government's efforts in ensuring the diversity of sources of Malaysian economic growth as well as the Sarawak state government's committed efforts especially in realizing the economic transformation at the state level to a digital economy and business sustainability, this theme was chosen to generate ideas and enable critical and analytical discussion. based on empirical studies on issues such as the financial and economic crisis that have a profound impact on global trade, finance and the economy. The scope of the conference will cover the business and economic aspects of Borneo in general and the global world in general. Topics of discussion include economic diversification, business sustainability, regional economy (BIMP-EAGA), energy economy based on renewable energy (hydrogen economy), digital economy and business, e-commerce, internet marketing, global financial management, global economy and business, global marketing, Islamic economics and finance, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and so on.
