The10th eBorneo Knowledge Fair, 2023

eBorneo Knowledge Fair 2023, the 10th in the series of engaged conferencing model, will be held in Miri, Sarawak from the 16th to 18th of November 2023. The conference that started off as an unconference in 2007, has been acknowledged by leaders in ICT4D as a premier developmental unconference that has blossomed from the Heart of Borneo.  eBKF aims to bridging the gap between stakeholders to enable community members to share local knowledge and perspectives, researchers to better understand the realities of communities, policy makers to make informed decisions, and implementers to adapt programs to local contexts.

01

Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration

The eBorneo Knowledge Fair facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experiences among various stakeholders, including local communities, academics, policymakers, and practitioners. This collective wisdom can spark innovative solutions to local challenges. It also fosters a sense of community ownership and involvement in sustainable development projects.
02

Encouraging Community Participation

The Fair provides an opportunity for the community to voice their needs and concerns and be actively involved in the learning and research process. This kind of community-engaged learning and research ensures that projects are relevant and beneficial to the community, ultimately leading to more sustainable outcomes.
03

Enhancing Digital Literacy

The eBorneo Knowledge Fair often includes workshops and presentations on digital tools and resources that can enhance learning and research. Increasing digital literacy among community members can empower them to take part in digital learning and research activities and to access online resources that can help them improve their livelihoods.
04

Promoting Local Culture and Traditions

The Fair also showcases the rich cultural heritage and traditional knowledge of the local communities. By integrating this traditional knowledge with modern science and technology, more holistic and sustainable solutions can be developed.
05

Fostering Research Opportunities

For researchers, policy makers and implementers, the Fair provides a unique opportunity to understand the ground reality, engage with local communities, and identify relevant research topics. The findings and insights gathered can then be used to influence policy-making, more effective project implementation, contributing to long-term sustainable development.
06

Engaged Learning Opportunities

For students, the Fair offers real-world learning experiences that complement their formal education. Interacting with diverse stakeholders, understanding their perspectives, and working on community-centered projects can enhance their problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, and social responsibility.

The eBorneo Knowledge Fair serves as a valuable platform that facilitates sustainable social and economic development. It underscores the significance of community involvement, traditional knowledge, digital transformation, and collaborative efforts in driving sustainability.
